Communication styles

NPs and SFs possess the informing style of communication. NJs and STs possess the directing style of communication. Informers inform other people of a problem that they see and leave it up to the other person to solve it, whereas directors direct others to take a particular action to solve a problem.

Informer talking to his daughter: "Wow, look at that lawn! It's like a jungle out there! I wish I had time to mow that lawn."

Director talking to his daughter: "Wow, look at that lawn! It's like a jungle out there! I don't have time to mow it today - will you do it this afternoon please?"

Directing can be very blunt, but is not always. Most INFJs, upon reading this, will say "I'm an informer! I must not be an INFJ!" Think again...

"Cowardice asks the question, Is it safe?
Expediency asks the question, Is it politic?
Vanity asks the question, Is it popular?
But conscience asks the question, Is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a
position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular;
but he must take it because his conscience tells
him that it is right."
