Kathryn:
- "Connections"
and
"Finding God"
by Larry Crabb
The author is an excellent counselor and anything by him is really good
in my opinion.
- "The Jesus
I Never Knew," "What's So Amazing About Grace," "Where
Is God When It Hurts?" or any other book by Phillip Yancey
He is very "real" and pretty unusual
- "Plain
Truth " by Jodi Picoult
About a teenage girl accused of killing her newborn. What makes it most
unusual is that she is Amish, and the book has been well researched.
Good courtroom issues.
- "Deep
End of the Ocean"
by Jacqueline Mitchard
EXCELLENT and large, and I couldn't put it down. About a woman (and
her family) whose three-year-old was kidnapped while she was at a high
school reunion.
- "While
I Was Gone" by Sue Miller
About a female veteranarian married to a pastor, and a skeleton in her
closet.
- "Their
Eyes Were Watching God"
by Zola Neal Hurston
[Hurston] inspired Alice Miller's "The Color Purple" (another
favorite). Excellent imagery, about a black woman and her life and loves.
WONDERFUL literature.
- "Never
Change " by Elizabeth Berg
About a 51 year old never-married female nurse who has to care for a
classmate she had a crush on as a teen as he is dying. WONDERFUL book.
All of her books are very poignant and well written. "Talk Before
Sleep" and "Open House" are others that are excellent.
This woman really understands women and how they think.
