NPs and SFs possess the informing style of communication. NJs and STs possess the directing style of communication. Informers inform other people of a problem that they see and leave it up to the other person to solve it, whereas directors direct others to take a particular action to solve a problem.
Informer talking to his daughter: "Wow, look at that lawn! It's like a jungle out there! I wish I had time to mow that lawn."
Director talking to his daughter: "Wow, look at that lawn! It's like a jungle out there! I don't have time to mow it today - will you do it this afternoon please?"
Directing can be very blunt, but is not always. Most INFJs, upon reading this, will say "I'm an informer! I must not be an INFJ!" Think again...-- Katie
